What/who inspired you to get into this field?
I have always been fascinated with how different machines work and what makes them tick. Mechanical engineering puts me right in the middle of that.
What classes would you recommend for this field (high school and college)?
For high school, I would recommend physics and programming classes, if they’re offered. In college, go for any design class. At Rose-Hulman, some examples would be mechatronics, ME lab and measurements. Those were the classes that got me to think hard and use my own ideas to solve problems.
What are some other companies that employ graduates in this field?
There are so many companies that hire mechanical engineers. Any car company, Rolls Royce, General Electric, Caterpillar, Lockhead Martin and the list goes on.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part would have to be that every day brings something new. My company works a lot with power plants and they bring us new problems daily that we must solve. I’ve even been able to go on some site visits to see the problems with my own eyes.
