Fundamental Constituents of Matter
Matter is composed of different types of atoms.
Atoms consist of a nucleus and an electron cloud.
Nucleus –
- Protons –
- positive charge
- consist of 2 up quarks and 1 down quark.
- Neutrons –
- neutral charged
- consist of 2 down quarks and 1 up quark
Electron Cloud –
- Electrons –
- negative charge
Elementary Particles –
- Smallest unit of matter that cannot be further broken down into smaller structures
- Quarks (6 types)
- Leptons (6 types)
