Electromagnetic Spectrum

Electromagnetic radiation is basically a wave formed of electric and magnetic fields. The common term for electromagnetic radiation is light. Usually light is produced by electrons as they change energy states. As an electron drops from a higher state to a lower one, it releases a small “packet” of energy called a photon. There exists some debate on the exact nature of photons being particles or waves.

The speed of light is about 3\times 10^{8}\ \frac{m}{s}. v=f•λ
