microtubules + mifrofilaments – rods + filaments made of proteins

→ cilia and flagella are composed of these

cilia –

• short “hairs” covering cell surface
• movement → wave-like motion
• feeding – carry food to organism’s “mouth”
• absorption – increased surface area

flagella –

• long projection, usually 1 or 2 present
• movement → whip-like
