Find the Length and Midpoint of the Line Segment

Find the length and midpoint of the line segment joining the points (3, 8) and (7, 2).

$d=\sqrt{(x_{2}-x_{1})^{2}+(y_{2}-y_{1})^{2}}$

$d=\sqrt{(7-3)^{2}+(2-8)^{2}}$

$d=\sqrt{(4)^{2}+(-6)^{2}}$

$d=\sqrt{16+36}=\sqrt{52}$

midpoint: $(\frac{3+7}{2},\ \frac{8+2}{2})\ \rightarrow\ (5,\ 5)$
