Understanding the Distributive, Associative, and Commutative Property

See the video for an additional explaination

Distributive: A(B+C)=AB+AC

Method 1:

7(5+2) = 35+14 = 49

Method 2:

7(7) = 49

Associative:

For Addition: (A + B) + C = A + (B + C)

1 + 2 = 2 + 1 = 3

For Multiplication: AB = BA

(1)(2) = (2)(1) = 2

Example:

Simplify: (5x^2-x+1)-2(2x^2-3x+2)

5x^2-x+1+(-4x^2+6x-4)

Associative: 4x^2-x+1-4x^2+6x-4

x^2+5x-3
