Graphing Quadratic Functions

Find the zeroes of y=x^{4}-4. State if it has a maximum or minimum value. Graph the function.

y=x^{4}-4

0=x^{4}-4

(x-2)(x+2)=0

x-2=0\rightarrow x-2+2=0+2\rightarrow x=2

x+2=0\rightarrow x+2-2=0-2\rightarrow x=-2

zeroes:\ (2,\ 0),\ (-2,\ 0)

Parabola opens up which means that we have a minimum value.

x y
0 -4
1 -3
-1 -3

minimum value: (0, -4)
