Solving a System of Equations
Solving a System of Equations
3 Methods
Solve system using substitution:
2x+3y=7
x+2y=5
Step 1
:
Solve one equation for one variable
x+2y=5
x=5-2y
Step 2
:
Substitute solved equation into other equation
2(5-2y)+3y=7
Step 3
:
Solve for remaining variable
10-4y+3y=7
-y=-3
y=3
Step 4
:
Substitute solved variable back into the original equation to solve for the remaining variable
x+2y=5
x+2(3)=5
x+6=5
-6=-6
x=-1
Solution: (-1,3)
