Determine Volume of Irregular Shapes

Determine the area of the shape below by breaking it into simpler shapes.

Break into simpler shapes and number the shapes
Determine the area of the smaller shapes
- Shape 1: 2+2=4 in $^2$
- Shape 2: $\frac{1}{2} \cdot 3 \cdot 1 = 1.5$ in $^2$
- Shape 3: $\frac{1}{2} \pi 2^2 = 2\pi$ in $^2$
- Shape 4: $5\cdot4 = 20$ in $^2$
Add up all the small areas
- $4+1.5+2\pi+20=31.78$ in $^2$
