One-step Linear Equations

One-Step Linear Equations

Solving linear equations → get variable to one side, by itself → use inverse operation to undo what was done to variable → must do same operation on each side of equation

X+6=-3

X+6-6=-3-6

X=-3-6

X=-9

X-3=5

X-3+3=5+3

X=5+3

X=8

\frac{X}{10}=2

(\frac{10}{1}) \frac{X}{10}=2(\frac{10}{1})

X=2(10)

X=20

143=11X

\frac{143}{11} = \frac{11X}{11}

\frac{143}{11}=X

13=X
